Diblings

These photographs make up a smaller series created in response to discovering a half-sister of mine through Ancestry. Finding Olivia Brown and hearing her story was a revelation. I had always fantasised about finding more of my donor family, after hearing stories about donor-conceived people analysing their DNA, finding new family and travelling the world to meet them. We were connected through the Ancestry app because our DNA aligned, and we have been in contract ever since. Doing this project all about my IVF heritage anyway, I knew I wanted to somehow involver her in it. This is when I came up with the idea to get her to fill up a disposable film camera, and I would get it developed and integrate the images into my project. The photographs came out incredibly and it was a real insight to her world, which was unbelievably valuable to me.
